Three more fatalities push COVID-19 death toll to 55 in Manipur

Manipur reported 117 more COVID-19 positive patients on Saturday.

Three more deaths pushed Manipur's COVID-19 death toll to 55 and the positive tally in the state surge to 8724 as 117 new patients tested positive for the viral infection on Saturday, the state health department said.

Among the three COVID-19 victims, one is an 80-year-old man and another 57-year-old man from Imphal West, and a 64-year-old from Thoubal district.

Of the 117 new cases, 116 patients were from general population and one personnel from Central Armed Police Force. Five persons from general population were returnees from other states and the rest 111 persons were locals with no travel history. As many as 38 from Imphal West, 24 from Thoubal, eight from Churachandpur, 33 from Imphal East, one from Jiribam, two from Kakching, eight from Bishnupur and two from Senapati. The cumulative number of active cases is 1,946, a release from the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.

In a span of twenty four, 94 patients more were discharged. With it, the cumulative number of recovered case is 6,723 and the recovery rate is 77.06 per cent.

Advisory to public: If you were in contact with a Covid positive person, self-isolate immediately, contact Covid Control Room or district CMO for testing, the state health department stated in the release.
