Manipur: Third Covid Care Centre opens in Churachandpur

The district will now have three CCCs with a total of 200 beds with two other CCCs with 50 beds each at Lanva TD Block complex and NEILIT building.

Agriculture Minister V Hangkhanllian inaugurated the third COVID Care Centre (CCC) for Churachandpur district with a capacity to accommodate 100 people was inaugurated on Thursday at Sadbhavna Mandap, Lamka South TD block, New Lamka.

The district will now have three CCCs with a total of 200 beds with two other CCCs with 50 beds each at Lanva TD Block complex and NEILIT building.

As chief guest of the function, Hangkhanllian said that he felt happy for the co-operation offered so far from the CVOs and the public and above all the front-line workers in the fight against COVID-19. He lauded the work of the district administration and Health department saying that COVID-19 cannot be fought with brute force or with specific medicine but through following the guidelines.

The minister presented 500 bottles of hand sanitizer to the organisers and promised to contribute Rs 15 lakhs for use of medical emergencies. He also said that the medical college in the district will soon be inaugurated by the chief minister when the appropriate time is fixed by the district administration of Churachandpur.

Deputy commissioner of Churachandpur, Pawan Yadav, who was the functional president, also lauded the work of his staff and health department under its CMO Dr VC Pau Tonsing. Collective effort is needed to fight COVID-19 and as far as the front-line workers are concerned the district is in the save hands under its CMO, he added.

As on September 17, Churachandpur recorded 47 new cases of COVID-19 (41 male and 6 female), out of which eight are locals and 39 military personnel. So far, the total positive cases are 834 (359 male and 175 female) with 659 recoveries. The recovery rate in the district is approximately 81 percent with two deaths. Till today, Churachandpur recorded 7936 total line listing and 13420 samples have been taken. 6613 people have completed 14 days of home quarantine since May 27, 2020 with 173 active cases (137 male and 36 female).
