AIMS locks down engineering wing of education department
The student body said in a release that the step to close down the wing was taken up condemning the irresponsible act of the authority concerned.
The Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS) has locked down engineering wing of education department on Friday over alleged irregularities. The student body said in a release that the step to close down the wing was taken up condemning the irresponsible act of the authority concerned.
While saying that they have been urging the authority concerned to take stringent action in connection with irregularities found in engineering wing, it contended that the government has failed to take up any steps even after knowing the misappropriation found in the department.
The matter was even published and broadcasted in media around four months ago thereby drawing attention of the government to punish those who involved in the irregularities, it added.
It stated that the student body had revealed in the media on July 20 this year about irregularities found in engineering wing of the department in connection with construction of DM University and Heirok Engineering College.
“The drawing of the structure of the said institutes was done by staff of the wing. But the department claimed that it was outsourced to one private firm,” it alleged adding that they came to know of such irregularities when they went to enquire about the developmental activities being taken up by the wing.
“The said irregularities was not for the first time. Many such similar cases have happened before. The engineering wing of the education department has become a place of corruption and irregularities,” it charged.
The student body went on to appeal all concerned to look into the matter and to take up immediate action in connection with the alleged irregularities.
