The Imphal East district police arrested two vehicle lifters from Thambalkhong, Imphal East on Thursday.
The vehicle lifers were apprehended at about 5 pm while a team of the district police was conducting frisking and checking along with Yumkhaibam Atheletic Association (YADA), Khergao.
They have been identified as one Soibam Somen, 33, son of S Duneshor Singh and Thokchom Arunkumar Singh, 39, son of late Th Ibochou both resident of Sagolband Heinoubok Makha Leikai, Imphal West. The arrested duo came on a moped (Dio) having registration plate, police said.
On spot verification they disclosed that the said vehicle was stolen on Wednesday from Langjing Makha Leikai community hall at about 3.30 pm. Further they also disclosed that they brought the scooter to sell at Thambalkhong, added the police.
Later while searching the vehicle, one photocopy of registration smart card bearing registration number MN01AC-0469 light green in colour, engine number JF39E-1249884 and chassis number ME4JFG7022147, sale certificate in the name of Longjam Sushilo of Keisamthong Longjam Leirak Imphal West District and original Motor Insurance certificate were recovered.
The arrested persons and the seizures were handed over to Porompat police station for further necessary action.
