Manipur's COVID-19 death toll surges to 51, positive cases reach 8,430
Manipur on Thursday reported three more deaths due to COVID-19.
Manipur's COVID-19 death toll surged to 51 with three more deaths due to the viral infection, while the positive tally rose to 8,430 cases as 110 more people tested positive for the disease on Thursday, the state health department said.
The three new death cases included two males from Imphal East and Thoubal and one female from Thoubal, a release from the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.
At least 18 patients recovered and were discharged from Covid care centres on Thursday. With it, the total number of recoveries has risen to 6539 from yesterday's 6521. The recovery rate now stands at 77.56 per cent, The total number of active cases has climbed to 1840 from Wednesday's 1751, the release stated,
Of the new cases, Imphal West reported 46 new cases, Imphal east 29, Thoubal 14, Churachandpur 7, Bishnupur 4, Noney 6, Tengnoupal 1 and Senapati 2. Six out of the general populations are returnees while the rest have no travel history,. All the new cases have been shifted to Covid care centres in the state and contact tracing and containment measures are in place, Additional director and spokesperson, Health Department Manipur, Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang said in the release.
Of the cumulative number of positive cases, 1,862 patients are Central security personnel, the release added.

Advisory to public: If you were in contact with a Covid positive person, self-isolate immediately, contact Covid Control Room or district CMO for testing, the state health department stated in the release.
