Give Rs 10,000 to each worker during COVID-19 lockdown: AITUC

The AITUC-Manipur drew the attention of the government to look into the plights of construction workers and manual labourers, said a release

The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), Manipur State Committee, on Saturday urged the authority concerned to give Rs 10,000 to each worker irrespective of whether their enrolment cards are renewed.

The organisation drew the attention of the government to look into the plights of construction workers and manual labourers, said a release.

The construction workers and manual labourers are facing immense hardships due to the present COVID-19 pandemic induced nationwide lockdown, it said. AITUC- MSC expressed concern over lack of attention given towards these workers by the authority concerned.

Without improving the conditions of construction workers and unorganized manual labourers, bringing economy back on track would be almost impossible, it said. 

This will make construction workers and unorganised manual labourers sustain themselves during and post lockdown, the release added.
