MMWO condoles death of writer Khutheibam Abdur Rahaman Sheikh

The writer was awarded the Sahitya Bhusan in 2003 and writer of the year honoured with Naharol Sahitya Premi award in 2004 for his contribution in Manipuri literature.

The Manipur Muslim Welfare Organisation (MMWO) on Monday expressed condolence over the untimely demise of writer Khutheibam Abdur Rahaman Sheikh.

Late Kh Abdur Rahaman Sheikh contributed a lot in researching and collecting the history of Meitei-Pangal tirelessly with utmost dedication, stated a release. He was awarded the Sahitya Bhusan in 2003 and writer of the year honoured with Naharol Sahitya Premi award in 2004 for his contribution in Manipuri literature. He was also awarded ICRA lifetime achievement award by ICRA in 2014 and Gopal Sharma Award by Sathoulup in 2019, it added.

It further stated that with his death, a valuable son of the motherland is lost. No one among Meitei-Pangal the community will be able to replace his place, it added.
