Applications invited for media fellowship

The theme of the fellowship programme will be on ‘Impact of Climate Change on Water resources in Manipur state’.

The Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, Manipur has invited applications from state journalists for the 2nd ‘State level media fellowship programme on Climate Change Reporting’ for a period of one year.

The theme of the fellowship programme will be on ‘Impact of Climate Change on Water resources in Manipur state,’ stated a notice issued by the director of Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, Y Nabachandra Singh on Thursday.

It stated that the journalists should have at least three years of working experience in journalism and media reporting. The fellowship award will be of Rs 50,000 with citation and will have the opportunity of interstate exposure visit and capacity building during the fellowship period, it added.

It mentioned that interested journalists will have to submit their stories/ reports on climate change related issues of the state, published during last one year for award of the said State level Media Fellowship on Climate Change Reporting in Manipur.

It stated that the news stories to be submitted should be duly certified by the editor of the newspaper concerned. A total of 12 fellowships in four categories will be awarded across the state as Open category for print media reporter (3 fellowship); Women journalist category for print media reporter (2 fellowship); hill journalist category for print media reporter (5 fellowship) and open category for electronic media reporter (2 fellowship), it added.

It further stated that applicants will have to submit three copies of news stories on Water resource issues in Manipur which have been published during last year along with the latest biodata and two passport size photographs to the director, directorate of Environment and Climate Change, Porompat by September 20.

The application should also enclose a letter of support from the editor mentioning that the output under the fellowship programme will be published in the newspaper concerned, it added.
