Raj Medicity authority has never made any excuse for not admitting any patient in the name of COVID-19, non-availability of beds or doctor, claimed chairman and managing director of Raj Medicity Haobijam Rajen on Thursday.

In a press meet held at the conference hall of the Raj Medicity in Imphal, Rajen said that the charge levelled against the hospital for not admitting a pregnant woman on the early morning of August 6 is not true.

It is reported that the proscribed group KCP (MC) Progressive charged the hospital for denying medical facility to the pregnant lady.

Regarding the incident, Rajen explained that the pregnant woman arrived in a white coloured bolero in the front road of the hospital at around 3.30 pm. The night manager concerned went to the vehicle to attend as nobody came out of the vehicle, he said.

The night manager explained to the patient’s family about the screening process like giving initial assessment by RMO and told them that he would call the consultants under the required treatment and the time to be taken for the process, he added.

Rajen further said the patient’s family discussed among themselves and left in a hurry without even getting out of the vehicle. The time the vehicle parked before the hospital is only one minute and six seconds, he continued.

The CCTV footage which includes the duration of the time the vehicle parked was screened before the media persons present in the said press meet.

Asserting that as the patient left the spot and the hospital did not have any details of the patients, the chairman said that in this circumstance, the hospital did not have any chance of providing urgently required medical services to the pregnant woman.

The chairman said it is indeed very shocking to learn that many hospitals refused to admit the pregnant woman from Senapati and succumbed to her injuries at around 5 am in front of the Shija Hospital and Research Institute.

In connection with the unfortunate incident, a show-cause notice was served to Raj Medicity by the state government and the hospital is preparing to reply to the show cause notice at the earliest, he added.

“Let it be at the wisdom of KCP(MC) Progressive to acknowledge to the effect that Raj Medicity had committed no non-ethical, error, negligence, malpractice or shortcomings while the patient’s party left the front road of Raj Medicity within one minute and six seconds of explaining about the required mandatory protocols,” said Rajen.
