Manipur COVID-19 death toll reaches 44; positive tally surges to 7,470

Manipur reported 108 more new COVID-19 positive cases on Thursday.

Four more fatalities pushed Manipur's COVID-19 death toll to 44 while the total number of confirmed cases rose to 7,470  with the report of 108 more new patients on Thursday, officials sources said.

Of the 108 new cases, 82 persons were from the general population. eight persons are returnees from other state while the rest are locals with no significant travel history. The 82 new patients included 15 persons from Imphal West, six from Bishnupur, three from Churachandpur, three from Tamenglong, two from Tengnoupal, one from Kakching, three from Jiribam, 11 from Imphal East, 37 from Thoubal and one from Ukhrul.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place and the new cases have been shifted to Covid Care cacilities, Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, Additional Director & Spokesperson Health Department, Manipur stated in a release.

On Thursday, 245 person were discharged and the recovery rate rose to 77.5 per cent. The cumulative numbers of active and recovered cases are 1,633 and 5793 respectively, the release added.
