Tamenglong teachers on contract basis endorse demand by tribal student’s organisations in Manipur

The Tamenglong Contract Basis Teachers Association said that in the process of moving the genuine cause, the association would support and stand firm on the steps taken by ATSUM, KSO, ANSAM.

Contract Basis Teachers Association (2006 Batch), Tamenglong district has announced to support tribal student organisations, namely, the All Tribal Students Union Manipur (ATSUM), the All Naga Students Association Manipur (ANSAM) and the Kuki Students Organisation (KSO), in the strive for genuine demands of the tribal and hill districts.

A statement jointly signed by the convener and secretary of the teachers association said that among the many genuine charter of demands raised by the said students’ organisations, one is for immediate regularisation of the long suffering contract basis teachers 2006, appointed by the director of Education (S), Government of Manipur in the year 2006.,

“For this, the Contract Basis Teachers Association would like to put our record straight that we are recruited by the state government on merit basis and our demand for regularisation of our service is genuine and authentic,” said the statement.

“For extension or regularisation of our service, physical and document verification has been done twice by the director of Education (S) and the latest was done in the month of November 2019 for which 564 teachers are found to be genuine” it added.

The association said that in the process of moving the genuine cause, the association would support and stand firm on the steps taken by ATSUM, KSO, ANSAM and any directives given by them in terms of agitations, strikes, bandh or blockade to carry out till the regularisation of 564 verified teachers are fulfilled by the state government at the earliest.

While calling the attention of the state government, the teachers’ association also urged the government that the slogan ‘go to hills’ be translated into action with the immediate fulfilment of regularisation of service of the teachers.
