Transport permits to be validated till December 31, 2020

A memorandum signed by Transport director Mercina R Panmei stated the validation of transport permits in view of the COVID-19 situation in the state.

The validity of permits, including learner’s license, driving license, registration or any other concerned document whose extension of validity could not or not likely be granted due to lockdown and which had expired since February 1 or would expire by December will be validated till December 31, 2020.

Citizens in the state have been facing difficulties in renewal of validity of various documents related to Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and Central Motor Vehicles Rules,1989 due to the imposition of lockdown in view of the threat of the spread of COVID-19, stated an office memorandum signed by Transport director Mercina R Panmei.

In order to facilitate citizens during the COVID-19 pandemic in the state, if the Rule 81 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules 1989, including renewal and in case such activity(s) is not completed due to conditions related to prevention of COVID-19 pandemic, the fees paid shall continue to remain valid, the memorandum added.
