New dialysis treatment centre at RIMS inaugurated

RIMS now has 16 beds for dialysis which will help patients with financial constraints to avail treatment.

A new dialysis treatment centre at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Hospital, Imphal was inaugurated by Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba on Tuesday.

Sanajaoba said that the newly constructed 10 bedded new dialysis treatment centre at RIMS will benefit the public of the state, a release stated. RIMS now has 16 beds for dialysis which will help patients with financial constraints to avail treatment. He appreciated the director and his team for providing such facility to the public.

Director, professor A Santa Singh expressed that it is their dream to give best healthcare facilities to the people of Manipur and other northeastern states, it stated. The installation of 10 new machines with 3 RO to the department of nephrology on Tuesday and opening of DM nephrology course from last year is a turning point of RIMS, it added.

The nephrology department can produce two DM doctors every year which is their contribution to India, it further stated. The institute is planning to start kidney transplantation in the near future in collaboration with AIIMS, New Delhi or Gujarat government, it added.

The medical superintendent of RIMS, professor Ch Arunkumar Singh; head of nephrology department, K Doungel; deputy director (admin), Dr T Brojen Singh; heads of departments; faculty of medical, dental and college of nursing; nursing superintendent and officials attended the event, it stated.

It stated Sanajaoba interacted with the director and officials in the Jubilee hall where he was given a briefing about the various steps taken to develop the institute. He assured to do his best to bring RIMS to the status of AIIMS, it added
