Manipur COVID-19 tally reaches 7202; death toll 39

One more COVID-19 male patient succumbed to the viral infection and 96 more people tested positive for the virus on Tuesday.

Manipur's COVID-19 death toll rose to 39 on Tuesday as one more COVID-19 patient died while 96 more people tested positive for the viral infection, pushing the cumulative number to 7,202, the state health department said.

"In the last 24 hours, a 48-year-old male from Thoubal died at RIMS," a release from the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.

Of the new 96 cases, 94 persons, including 42 males and 52 females, are from the general population and two personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), the release stated. The new cases include 27 from Imphal East, 21 from Imphal West, 17 from Thoubal, 14 from Bishnupur, five from Jiribam, three from Churachandpur, two each from Ukhrul and Kakching and one each from Noney, Chandel, Tamenglong, it stated.

Only Five persons are returnees from other states while the rest 89 are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shufted to Covid care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release stated.

Meanwhile, 126 patients were discharged in the past 24 hours after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test.

The cumulative number of positive cases  in the state is 7,202 (general poluation - 5,489 and central security personnel - 1,713) of which 5,484 persons (general population - 1,175 and central security personnel - 1,207) have recovered from COVID-19. The recovery rate is 76.14 per cent, the release added.

It further stated that in case of emergency, government doctors can be contacted from home between 10 am to 3 pm every day except on Sunday by downloading Sanjeevani OPD app at Google Play store or go to website www.esanjeevaniopd.in.
