India's COVID-19 tally surged to 41,13,811, with the highest single day spike of 90, 632 positive cases, according to the Union Health Ministry on Sunday.
The total number of active cases rose to 8,62,320, while the death toll climbed to 70,626 as 1065 more patients were reported dead. However, the fatality rate due to the coronavirus infection has declined to 1.72 per cent, the Home Ministry stated.
Meanwhile, 31,80,865 Covid patients have recuperated so far, taking the national recovery rate to 77.32 per cent on Sunday, according to the ministry.
Till September 5, a total of 4,88,31,145 samples have been tested, according to the data of the Indian Council of Medical Research.
