An awareness and group discussion on prevention of alcohol and substance abuse for the inmates and staff of the Health Care Centre, Thoubal Pakhangkhong and Rural development society, Khongjom in Thoubal district was organised by the members of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign on Saturday.
A release stated that the programme was organised while maintaining the standard operating procedure of COVID-19. A total of 15 inmates attended the programme in which A Kameshwar Singh, DSWO Thoubal and Yumnam Laksman Singh were the resource persons in the awareness programme followed by serious discussions on prevention of alcohol and substance abuse in which all inmates took part, it stated.
Kameshwar Singh highlighted the prevailing situation of drug and substance abuse among the youths in the state, it further stated. He also emphasized to develop a firm and strong will to abstain from drug usage and be a role model to others for not falling into the clutches of drugs, it added.
Laksman expressed that this campaign is a right step for eradicating the menace of drug abuse from society, it further stated. The programme ended with words of appreciation for the organising the awareness from the project directors of the IRCAs, it added.
