With the aim to make Churachandpur district free from malnutrition, ‘Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2020’ was launched by additional DC of Churachandpur, Thangboi Gangte on Thursday.
The programme was jointly organised by ICDS Cell, Churachandpur and the District Administration.
During the programme, Gangte stressed upon the importance of providing nutritious food to the children who are the future of the nation. He emphasised on the need to take the campaign to the interior areas of the district so that all children irrespective of every background get the benefits. There should be no barriers in reaching the campaign to every household, he added.
Urging the concerned officials to ensure that the campaign reaches every nook and corner of the district, the additional DC added that the campaign should not be confined to the town areas only but should be benefitted by all.
It may be mentioned that the month-long campaign is to make children, adolescents and women healthy and strong. The aim is to deliver correct nutrition to every household and to promote nutritious diets, clean water and hygienic lifestyle.
Other activities to be taken up under the scheme during the month-long campaign included vegetable and fruit plantation drive in kitchen gardens, door to door delivery of nutritious foods to both severely and moderately malnourished children and webinar on prevention of malnutrition during and after COVID-19 pandemic.
