One staff nurse and her sister staying in their quarter of Ukhrul District Hospital, Hungpung were tested positive for COVID-19 on September 2.
In view of the impending threat of the pandemic in the area, district magistrate of Ukhrul, Joseph Pauline Kamsom had issued an order the same day to seal the whole compound of the district hospital. As a containment measure, entry and exit is barred in the areas of the hospital with ban on vehicular movements to initiate active surveillance of COVID-19 cases.
The authority of Ukhrul District Hospital has carried out immediate Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) on 60 health workers at the hospital and people staying at the quarter on September 2. However, all the test results came negative.
Informing all the staffs, patients, patient parties and other individuals who had come in contact with the COVID-19-infected persons, the district surveillance officer of Ukhrul has also issued a notice on Thursday to immediately stay under home quarantine and to get tested on the sixth day after the last contact at the testing centre at Bakshi Ground.
Sources said that the staff nurse and her sisters have been evacuated to COVID Care Centre at TK Woodland Resort, Shirui at around 10 pm on September 2.
As informed by DSO of Ukhrul, Dr Pamreila Grace, an extensive rapid antigen test was carried out on Thursday at Bakshi Ground among the health workers, patients and patient parties. Around 200 people were tested and all their test results were negative.
