The Thadou Youth Association, joint headquarters has appealed to the state government to look into the dilapidated road condition between Motbung and Sapormeina along Asian highway 2(AH2) at the earliest.
The association also urged the civil voluntary organisations and student bodies to extend support and cooperate to pave ways for the development of the highway at the earliest.
A release signed by general secretary Mangnekam Kipgen on Wednesday stated that the highway is deteriorated beyond measures and vehicles face extreme difficulties while plying along it.
Keeping the fact that not only people of Kangpokpi district are affected but AH2 being the major lifeline of the State, the association calls for solidarity and cooperation towards timely and quick intervention for renovation of the highway at the earliest for the safety and wellbeing of the vehicles in particular and for the welfare and convenience of the people in the district and the State as a whole.
The release further stated that highway is the major roadway of the state linking with other states for supply of essential commodities and that it is not only the sole responsibilities of the people living in it but the people of Manipur as a whole.
