Patient escapes from COVID Care Centre, gets caught

The area where the COVID-19 patient was hiding was sanitised by the task force and few people around were tested with Rapid Antigen Test but no one was found positive of COVID-19.

A COVID-19 patient escaped from COVID Care Centre (CCC) at NIELIT, Tuibong, Churachandpur district on August 30 night but was later caught by the officials of the district administration the same night while he was trying to enter his sister’s house at Rangkai.

Sources said that the 21 years old inmate of CCC, NIELIT was knocking on the door of his sister’s house but the sister refused to open it, and by that time he was caught and picked up in an ambulance by COVID-19 Task Force.

The area where the COVID-19 patient was hiding was sanitised by the task force and few people around were tested with Rapid Antigen Test but no one was found positive of COVID-19. The patient was readmitted at the CCC.

Meanwhile, Churachandpur district has registered 10 new cases of COVID-19 positive on August 31, out of which four persons are returnees and other six persons with no travel history were detected through contact tracing.

So far, a total of 649 COVID-19 positive cases (515 males and 134 females) have been registered in the district, with 474 numbers of recoveries and active cases of 171. Presently, the district has six CCCs and one isolated ward at the district hospital.
