The ASHA worker of Kangpokpi district, who has been tested negative and completed 28 days of surveillance in COVID Care Centre and Community Quarantine Centre, was greeted and welcomed as the ‘Corona Warrior’ by the local CVOs and medical department on August 30.
The 60 years old ASHA worker, Hevei Haokip from ward no.5 in Kangpokpi district is the frontline worker among many others infected with the deadly virus in the district during the pandemic COVID-19. She was tested positive on August 1 after her sample was collected in July along with other ASHA workers. She was evacuated at Lamboikhongnangkhong COVID Care Centre at Imphal.
On August 17 afternoon, she was discharged from the COVID Care Centre after spending 17 days to overcome the virus and she voluntarily opted to undergo the remaining days to complete 28 days surveillance at Kanggui Christian College Community Quarantine Centre with consultation with the medical superintendent (in-charge) of District Hospital Kangpokpi.
Upon arrival at home from the community quarantine centre, the leaders of Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organisation (KWWO), Kangpokpi Youth Union (KYU) and the medical department greeted her with hero’s welcome at her residential gate with claps and cheers.
As a gesture of respect, medical superintendent (in-charge), Dr Paotinlal Haokip offered a bouquet of flowers to Hevei Haokip on behalf of the ASHA workers and medical department. President of KWWO, Hekim Hangshing and president of KYU, Haolet Khongsai also presented her bouquets on behalf of the mothers and youths of the town.
ASP of Kangpokpi, Lalminlen Misao and senior journalist, Kaybie Chongloi also joined the welcome ceremony and offered bouquets to the corona warrior for her courage in defeating the dreaded virus.
Earlier, Kangpokpi Town Committee members led by its chairman, Lunseh Kipgen visited the ASHA worker and appreciated her for courage while offering prayer for her health and future endeavours.
Hevei Haokip made the entire medical community of Kangpokpi proud and the members of her society and CVOs leaders deserve to be praised for acknowledging her efforts, said Dr Paotinlal.
“Don’t take COVID-19 easily considering the impressive recovery rate. Unless you take it seriously and follow the prescribed norms and guidelines, it will always be deadly,” said Hevei Haokip while expressing her joy upon the CVOs leaders and her department in offering the hero’s welcome.
