Due to non maintenance, the drainage along the highway has been blocked, it stated. One can witness water running in the middle of the road whenever it rains. This has also resulted in an occurrence of landslides at various places along the highway, which is the lifeline of the people from the northern part of Ukhrul district. Due to landslides between Harkui Kathe and BRTF, vehicles are facing difficulties while plying the highway, it stated. TNWL has called upon the authority concerned to take up appropriate action at the earliest, it added.
