The United Committee Manipur (UCM) on Tuesday stated that the final solution of the peace talk between the NSCN (I-M) and the central government should be confined only within the state of Nagaland.
If the final solution of the peace talk is to be extended to the state of Manipur, then the Centre should invite the civil bodies of Manipur as a party to the talks, stated a release.
The words 'without territorial limits' were officially removed from the ceasefire agreement signed between the NSCN (I-M) and the Centre after the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee gave assurance to the delegates of all political parties in July 27, 2001 and the then union home minister LK Advani confirmed it through the media.
The NSCN (I-M) and the Centre on August 3, 2015 signed the Framework Agreement with an objective to maintain a new direction in which the NSCN (I-M) representative including its general secretary Th Muivah and chairman Isaac Chi Shu clearly mentioned with their signatures that the NSCN is only of Nagaland, it added.
The release further mentioned that if the present final stage of the agreement happens to pose a threat to any of the state identity of Manipur, the UCM will not remain silent. The government should be held responsible for all consequences and at any circumstances, the final agreement should not affect or disintegrate the state of Manipur, it stated.
UCM further asserted that as the peace talks do not include the government of Manipur or any civil bodies of Manipur, the outcome of the talks should not be extended to the state of Manipur.
