20 nurses, lab technician recruited to work at community quarantine centres in Tamenglong

Tamenglong chief medical officer Dr Chambo Gonmei stated in a notification that the engagement is temporary for the recruits to work at community quarantine centres in the district on payment of remuneration per duty day.

In view of the surge in COVID-19 positive cases and acute shortage of manpower in the health department, a walk-in-interview for recruitment of trained healthcare professionals for temporary engagement at community quarantine centres was held at Tamenglong HQ, Manipur, on Monday.

The health department said that a lone lab technician applicant and 20 nurses out of 30 applicants have been considered for recruitment on temporary basis for engagement at the community quarantine centres in Tamenglong HQ.

Tamenglong chief medical officer Dr Chambo Gonmei stated in a notification that the engagement is temporary for the recruits to work at community quarantine centres in the district on payment of remuneration per duty day.

The remuneration rate for a staff nurse is Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 for other paramedical staff per duty day, according to a state order.

Meanwhile, with the confirmation of two more COVID-19 positive cases at the United Builder's School Community Quarantine Centre, the total number of positive cases in the district rose to 180 on Monday.

Of the 180 COVID-19 positive cases in the district, 77 patients have recovered and been released from the COVID-19 care centre at Tamenglong Higher Secondary School.

According to Tamenglong District Surveillance Officer Dr Rachunlung Kamei, 25 patients recovered on Monday. It included 21 from Tamenglong Covid care centre and four from a facility in Imphal. 

Altogether, 207 people are being housed at different community quarantine centres in Tamenglong, apart from the 43 Covid-19 positive patients at the Covid care centre.
