2018 drug haul case: Two accused released on bail

The accused persons filed their bail application in January stating that they were falsely implicated in the said case and there was no recovery of any narcotic drugs from their possession.

Two accused linked with the drug haul case of 2018, which allegedly involves former ADC chairman of Chandel Lhukhosei Zou, were granted bail on August 19 by the High Court of Manipur.

The accused persons filed their bail application in January stating that they were falsely implicated in the said case and there was no recovery of any narcotic drugs from their possession.

Both the accused persons were arrested on June 19, 2018 by a team of NAB and remanded under judicial custody by the court under section 22(B)/22(C)/21(C)/25/29/60(3) NDPS Act, 1985 and section 27 Arms Act.

The two accused persons were released on bail after furnishing a PR bond of Rs 1 lakh and two sureties each, as per the directive given by the single bench of the high court, Justice MV Muralidaran.

The bail order mentioned that the accused persons are directed to report before the Special Court, NDPS, Manipur at 10 am daily for one month and appear before the Trial Court on every hearing without fail.

The order also stated that if any condition is violated by both the accused persons, the prosecution is at liberty to approach the court.

On November 4, 2019 one person accused of being involved in the drugs haul case allegedly involving Lhukhosei Zou was released on bail and two other accused persons allegedly involved in the case were also released on bail on December 20, 2019.
