Five lakh fish fingerlings released at the reservoir of Mapithel Dam: MDAFCSL

MDAFCSL lauded additional director, joint director of fisheries and said the society’s only hope for livelihood in the region is rearing of fish at the reservoir of Mapithel dam.

Mapithel Dam Affected Fishery Cooperative Society Ltd, Ukhrul (MDAFCSL) has lauded the additional director and joint director of fishery, government of Manipur and his subordinate officer and DFO, Ukhrul for releasing more than five lakh fish fingerlings at the reservoir of Mapithel dam on August 5.

A release stated that it was organised by the department of Fisheries under the Fish Fingerlings Liberation Programme.

The society held a meeting for the second time at Riha village on Wednesday following the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to publicly thank the officers, his subordinates and DFO, Ukhrul, it added.

The society’s only hope for livelihood is rearing of fish at the reservoir of Mapithel dam, it stated.

The society further requests the National Fisheries Department Board (NFDB) and the fishery department to extend further help to the society for sustainable development, it added.
