Compounds in Shillong sealed as containment zones

To restrict unregulated entry and exit movement on site, district magistrate Nongbri through a notification declared Musa compound and Gopalji compound at Jhalupara and Goenka compound (Kamakhya Complex) opposite Cantonment Beat House as containment areas.

Due to the detection of COVlD-19 cases/high risk contacts in specified compounds in Shillong, District Magistrate of East Khasi Hills, Matsiewdor War Nongbri has issued an order declaring them as containment areas.

To restrict unregulated entry and exit movement on site, Nongbri through the notification has declared Musa compound and Gopalji compound at Jhalupara and Goenka compound (Kamakhya Complex) opposite Cantonment Beat House as containment areas.

 “Due to recent high risk and low risk contacts  with the COVID-19 cases, the vulnerable and affected areas  require aggressive contact tracing, quarantine, testing and isolation as well as containment in the interest of health of the general public against any possible spread of COVID-19,” said the District Magistrate.

Meanwhile, the District Magistrate has also issued an order lifting the containment order for the housing complex of Thomlin Nongrum in Block-II at Lawmali Pyllun and in the building of Quincidory Shallam at Lower Lumsohra in Laitumkhrah.

Based on contact tracing status and test reports of high risk contacts in these areas and in view of the reports received, the District Magistrate has decided on lifting the containment orders for COVID-19 for these areas, with effect from August 18.
