Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar Singh on Monday distributed medical kits to truck drivers at Keithelmanbi along the Imphal-Jiribam road and lauded their efforts during the nationwide lockdown and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Health protective items such as hand sanitiser, face masks, face shields and other essentials were handed over to the drivers and handymen of the trucks plying along the Imphal-Jiribam road.
Speaking to mediapersons, Jayantakumar said truck drivers of other routes will also be provided with protective health gears as similar to today's. Such event will also be organised at ISBT, Chingmeirong as next location, he added.
Jayantakumar also said that maintaining SOPs by everyone is an effective way to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.
The health minister also said that the health department will provide necessary medicines when required by the associations.
Necessary instructions have also been served to the concerned department to take up immediate steps when report of a COVID-19 related case is received by the health department, the minister added.
