Assam DGP in home isolation after testing positive for Coronavirus

Assam has recorded 64,407 COVID-19 positive cases so far

Assam’s Director General of Police (DGP) Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta has tested positive for Coronavirus and has decided to remain in home isolation, officials said on Monday.

"Healthcare professionals will act as per protocols and test the samples of his immediate contacts," a senior official was quoted as saying in reports.

Assam has recorded 64,407 COVID-19 positive cases and 155 deaths due to the disease.

In view of the alarming COVID-19 situation in the state, Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had said that the state will conduct one lakh COVID-19 tests from Wednesday.
