The five women organisations said that mothers and women of Churachandpur are deeply worried and concerned about the recent incidents in the district like sexual assault of a minor girl and murder of a woman.

There had been numerous reports of crime against women in the past and many cases had gone unreported, said the women organisations in a joint release.

The release continued that it is unfortunate to witness the traditional justice system that is conveniently being used for maximum advantage by some people, particularly when it comes to crime against women.

“We also like to draw the attention of the public and government authorities that during these pandemic days and lockdowns, many girls and women are much vulnerable. In the last few months, we came across many cases of domestic violence against women. We are also extremely worried as there is an alert that there are high chances of trafficking during the crisis,” stated the women organisations in the release.

The women organisations have urged the authorities concerned and the general public to take the matter seriously and act effectively to bring safety for girls and women.
