The Associate Professor Senior Resident Association (APSRA) has decided to defer its protest demonstration over time-scale promotion in view of the current COVID-19 crisis in the state.
Opposing the delay on the part of the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute Medical Sciences(JNIMS) authority in implementing the demand for Time Scale Promotion(TSP), which had already been approved by the state cabinet, APSRA on August 2 announced that it will initiate a demonstration protest on August 10.
A letter submitted by APSRA to the principal secretary Health and Family Welfare Manipur on Monday stated that the APSRA committee has been demanding implementation of TSP JNIMS for many years.
On March 12, 2020, deputy secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Manipur issued a convey order for TSP which mentioned that, "The existing persons on the basis of critical assessment are promoted to the next higher level or scale are upgraded without altering the combined authorised strength of post".
However, even after five months after the issuance of the convey letter, nothing has been done to implement the order, in spite of repeated reminders to the director, JNIMS. Due to the inaction, the APSRA members had earlier decided to undergo demonstration protest against the director starting August 10, the letter added.
Earlier in August 2, a statement issued by APSRA president Dr N Kumarjit stated that the prolonged demand of the APSRA was accepted and approved by the state cabinet on January 27 and the order was forwarded to the director's office on March 12.
