WWO condemns death of Kanpatliu Kamei
WWO also appealed to investigate other death cases due to negligence or denial of treatment during COVID-19 pandemic.
The Women Welfare Organisation (WWO), Kangleipak, has strongly condemned the death of young expectant mother due to alleged denial of medical attention by hospitals in Imphal and appealed the authority concerned to enquire about the case without any bias.
A release stated that the demise of Kanpatliu Kamei, wife of Roshan Balang, who died due to lack of immediate medical attention, was a tragic incident. The authority concerned should not only focus on COVID-19 patients but should also be responsible enough for every patient so that the kind of unfortunate event does not happen in the future, it added.
“Delivery of a baby is the most challenging period for a pregnant mother and not getting medical treatment despite repeated requests to the doctors of the hospital is an irresponsible and inhumane act,” stated WWO in the release.
It said that being a women organisation, WWO strongly condemned the unfortunate incident.
While appealing to strictly conduct the investigation, the women organisation appreciated the state government on formation of a committee to enquire the death of the young expectant mother. WWO also appealed to investigate other death cases due to negligence or denial of treatment during COVID-19 pandemic.
