The Hill Tribal Council (HTC), Moreh has appealed to the chief minister to “see-off” the case involving Lhukhosei Zou at the earliest date possible in the best interest of the latter’s wife and children and his people.
The HTC stated in a release that there are hordes of people dealing in drugs in the country, partcularly in Northeast. The question here is who should be tagged as a drug lord, the manufacturers or the traffickers or the daily users, it stated.
Tagging an individual, who had never been caught red-handed with drugs by ND&PS personnel as ‘Drug Lord’ is unfortunate, it added.
Also, branding every high ranking tribal officer as “quota-oriented people”, by police officer Th Brinda evokes disgust, it stated. This mean comment posted on social media evoked anger from the tribal community, it added.
The HTC release further stated the ND&PS had been nabbing drug manufacturing factories from time to time and yet the manufacturers were not tagged as ‘Drug Lords’ but let them get away scot free.
While war of words was in full swing between the police officer and a few political heavy weights, the Congress (MPCC) took the advantage to overthrow the ruling government for reasons best known to them, the HTC stated. The Congress started adding fuel to the fire, it added.
“Every right thinking citizen is aware that the dirtiest politics is played by the Congress party. The Congress party of Manipur has gone to the extent of luring innocent students and youths to stand by them and to stage dharnas urging the government to hand over the case of Lhukhosei Zou to the CBI,” the HTC alleged.
If the Congress party is so much against nefarious activities like drug trafficking, then why did they not react to the drug menace when they were in power for 15 years, it questioned.
The government should wake up from its slumber and on focus on the situation.
