Chief Justice, Ramalingam Sudhakaron, High Court of Manipur, on Friday directed the public prosecutor to verify whether an FIR was registered and uploaded against Erendro Laichombam, against whom sedition charges were lodged by the state. The court gave the prosecutor to verify the same by August 10.
The directive of the HC came in response to the anticipatory bail filed by Erendro in the court last Wednesday under section 438 CrPC.
The HC also directed the respondents to furnish a copy of the Facebook post for which the petitioner was implicated.
While it is learnt that the police have not specified the post which is connected with sedition, charges were slapped against Erendro under Section 153 (causing provocation to riot), 124 A (sedition) and 505 (public mischief) of IPC by police.
