Manipur: 12 more persons test COVID-19 positive in Tamenglong; 5 has no travel history

With the 12 new cases, the number of COVID-19 positive cases has surged to 240 in Tamenglong.

At least 12 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Tamenglong district on Friday. Among them, five are said to be without travel history, official sources said.

With the 12 new cases, the number of positive cases in the district surged to 240. Of them cases, 200 patients have recovered while 40 are active cases. 

The five positive cases without travel include one ADC Tamenglong teacher engaged as a volunteer for the community quarantine centre at Christian Grammar school Tamenglong.

Two positive cases are from the Electricity department and the remaining two positive cases are medical staff working in the Chief Medical Office, Tamenglong. 

The remaining seven positive cases are detected from community quarantine centres in Tamenglong.

As per a report from the district surveillance Tamenglong, there are 35 inmates at different community quarantine centres in Tamenglong district headquarters.

Meanwhile, district task force chairman Armstrong Pame issued directives in regards to the developing situation.

The DC, in an order stated that necessarysteps are being taken to contain further spread in and around the district.

The DC stated that the residence of all those persons who have been tested positive has been completely sealed and shall be sanitised immediately and declared a containment zone.

"All the close contacts of these positive persons over the last few days are being traced and tested using either of the testing mechanisms through RT PCR test, TrueNat or Rapid Antigen test," he stated.

He informed that the five positive persons have now been shifted to COVID Care Centre at the Tamenglong Higher Secondary School while adding that all the close contacts if tested positive, shall also be sent to District COVID Care Centre accordingly, and if their result is negative they shall be sent to 14 days home quarantine.
