Activist Erendro Leichombam files for anticipatory bail

The Manipur High Court has fixed the hearing on August 7

Activist Erendro Leichombam has filed for anticipatory bail under 438 CrPC on August 5 before the High Court of Manipur and the hearing has been fixed on August 7.

Erendro filed for the anticipatory bail in connection with a sedition case filed against him.

Erendro, the political activist was charged under sedition case for a Facebook post.

The Manipur Police filed the sedition case against him for a comment he made on his Facebook account on July 25.

Police have not specified the post which is connected with sedition. But, he was charged under Section 153 (causing provocation to riot), 124 A (sedition) and 505 (public mischief) of IPC by police.

It may be mentioned that Erendro was earlier arrested for criticising the BJP-led government in Manipur
