To accommodate asymptomatic COVID-19 patients for treatment, a COVID care centre was inaugurated on Tuesday at DIET Centre, Leikop (Lhangjol) in Kangpokpi district. The COVID care centre has been upgraded from 50 beds to 70.
The COVID care centre was inaugurated by Social Welfare and Cooperation Ninister Nemcha Kipgen in the presence of chairman of ADC Sadar Hills, Somorjit Salam; DC of Kangpokpi, Hemant Pandey; SP of Kangpokpi, Nilakanta Singh; chief medical officer and medical superintendent of COVID Care Centre, Dr. J. Touthang and other officials from the District Administration, Medical Department and District police.
Nemcha Kipgen pointed out that due to the increasing number of COVID patients in the state, COVID Care Centre for the district is very much needed. However, she exhorted that the people that asymptomatic patients admitted in the COVID Care Centre must follow the guidelines and protocols provided by the World Health Organisation and Indian Council of Medical Research apart from the government SOPs.
The minister also handed over bulky personal protective equipment and other essential requirements for the COVID care centre, institutional quarantine centres and for all the frontline workers of the district before inspecting the newly inaugurated centre along with other dignitaries and officials.
She also appealed to the people of Kangpokpi, particularly the local populace where the COVID Care Centre has been set up to be responsible in the proper functioning of the COVID care centre.
Geyser will be installed in all the bathrooms of the COVID Care Centre and interviews for temporary staff including 12 staff nurses, three multi-tasking/office assistants, two drivers and seven multi-tasking staff will begin soon.
