The Manipur Government on Thursday announced extension of total lockdown in the state till August 6.
Following the announcment, the total lockdown-curfew which was reinforced in the state by the state government for seven days starting July 23 afternoon has been extended for another seven days.
Chief secretary J Suresh Babu, in an order on Thursday has directed all the deputy commissioners of the districts to strictly enforce the total lockdown and curfew.
The lockdown extension was announced amid the report of the third COVID-19 death case in the state on Thursday. The first death of a COVID-19 patient in the state was reported on Wednesday and two more COVID-19 patients succumbed to the disease on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the state rose to 2505 on Thursday with 47 more new positive cases reported from different parts of the state. The new patients have been shiftend to covid care facilities.
The total tally included four deaths, 829 active cases and 1672 recovered cases so far.
