Nagaland: Five more returnees test positive for COVID-19

Nagaland reported five new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday taking the total number of cases in the state to nine.

Nagaland reported five new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday taking the total number of cases in the state to nine. Of the new cases, four were from Dimapur and one from Kohima, state Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom said in a tweet.

The five new patients are returnees from Chennai and are undergoing proper medical treatment at COVID-19 Hospital Dimapur and Kohima respectively, the minister said.

"Another 5 more returnees from Chennai tested COVID-19 positive this morning; 4 from Dimapur and 1 from Kohima. With this, we have 9 active case in Nagaland. They all are undergoing proper medical treatment at COVID19 Hospital Dimapur and Kohima respectively," Phom tweeted.

On Tuesday, one Chennai returnee tested positive for the virus in Kohima taking the tally in the state up to four.

Nagaland reported its first COVID-19 cases on May 25 after three persons who returned from Chennai, Tamil Nadu by a Shramik Special Train tested positive for the virus. Of the first three cases, two were from Dimapur and one from Kohima.

As many as 1,328 stranded people returned to the state by train on May 22.
