United Committee Manipur (UCM) has submitted a memorandum to the chief minister, N Biren Singh and union home minister demanding a clarification and immediate action on the recent finding of NSCN (I-M) camp in Senapati and Chandel districts of the state.
A release stated that based on a recent media report in connection with existence of NSCN (I-M) camps, the committee had set a dateline to clarify the presence of the said camp. Accordingly, the CM had invited them for a meeting on Sunday evening, it said.
The meeting was attended by CM, N Biren Singh; deputy speaker K Robindro; MLA, Th Satyabrata and MLA H Dingo along with three member of UCM led by its secretary, the release said.
It stated that during the meeting, the representative of the committee demanded state government to remove the camps at earliest as there is extension of ceasefire agreement in the state. The committee will take various actions if state government fails to fulfill the demand.
Biren also informed them that the state government had also taken up initiative about the presence of the camp. The moment they came to know the report of presence of camp, they urged to secretary of union home minister to take some legitimate action in the regard.
The CM has also assured to take up all possible legal action once the present pandemic is calm down, it added.
During the meeting, they submitted a memorandum to the chief minister demanding a clarification and disclosure of the said camps. The same memorandum was also submitted to union home minister through the chief minister.
The release said that taking the opportunity of the meeting, they also demanded to review the order issued by state government on opening of food bank. It stated that opening of food bank will not be able to serve the people of state directly. Besides, such order demeans the support rendered by CVOs and community, it added.
