Massive eviction drive is being carried out in Tamenglong HQ and several houses located along the Tamenglong-Khongsang road, within a stretch of five kilometers, were demolished as a part of the road expansion work on Monday.
The eviction drive, which began from zero point near Haipou Jadonang Park towards Khongsang, was led by sub-divisional officer Tamenglong Mahesh Chaudhari along with his staff, NHIDCL authority engineer Muna Lal and Dijen Singh; deputy project manager Anil Kumar along with Tamenglong police led by OC Th Dominique.
Speaking to the Imphal Free Press, Chaudhari informed that compensated land owners have been directed to evacuate at the earliest.
Deputy project manager of Shivalaya Anil Kumar said the roadway will be blacktopped by April 2021.
Shivalaya private company is engaged for construction of Tamenglong-Khongsang road of about 39.5 km.
During the drive, most of the houses constructed near the road were partially demolished while a few houses were completely demolished and their residents evicted.
