The total lockdown and curfew in Tamenglong district headquarters has been intensified owing to the prevailing scenario of the pandemic in the state.
The district administration on Monday withdrew relaxation hours and complete lockdown was enforced throughout the town for the whole day.
In an order, the district magistrate Tamenglong said that relaxation was permitted to retail stores dealing with essential commodities from 6 am to 10 am; however, due to the increasing risks posed by the spread of COVID-19 as reported from other parts of the state, further restrictions are required at this critical juncture.
He said that as an utmost matter of urgency to contain any possibilities of the spread of COVID -19 within the district of Tamenglong, it is hereby ordered that all establishments, including retail stores dealing with essential services will remain closed with immediate effect with an exception to pharmacies.
"Further, all vehicle movements shall be restricted except of the officials on duty and those with permits being issued by the office of the district magistrate. This order shall come into immediate effect and shall remain in force till July 31or until further order,” the order release stated.
The busy streets of Tamenglong bore a deserted look on Monday as the district administration imposed a total shutdown in the district.
