No COVID-19 community transmission in Churachandpur till date

Hundreds of people were tested on Friday when infection was detected at a quarantine center at Advance Diagnostic Centre of Churachandpur.

A huge sigh of relief came to the citizens of Churachandpur as the results of all 150 who had undergone tests for COVID-19 through contact tracing have come negative on Saturday, indicating that there has been no community transmission in the district so far.

The result came after a lab technician had tested COVID-19 positive, following a BSF jawan, who was tested positive for the virus, visited the clinic where the technician worked. Besides the lab technician, an inmate of a community quarantine located at Saikot was tested positive.

In the backdrop of the fear and apprehension faced by the residents of Churachandpur on the possibility of a community transmission in the district, more than 408 samples were collected for testing on Saturday.

It included 163 people who were tested after contact tracing was conducted by the authority concerned, in addition to more than 150 persons who were tested on Friday when infection was detected at a quarantine center at Advance Diagnostic Centre of Churachandpur.

The collection of samples through contract tracing was made at Tuibong peace ground where 48 people were tested while 115 people were tested at Lamka public Ground. The rest were tested at two quarantine centers and at a district hospital.

Meanwhile, 11 COVID-19 positive persons at NIELIT Tuibuang covid care centre tested negative on Saturday. RT-PCR test results showed the district recovery rate at 84 per cent as on Saturday.

Unfortunately, one person at the Saikot High school community quarantine centre became positive on Saturday.
