The Kuki Students' Organization general headquarters has categorically stated that the released of former ADC Chandel Chairman, Lhukhosei Zou and the transfer of MPS, Th Brinda should not be linked in no way.

General secretary, KSO said that some civil bodies have condemned the release of former Chandel ADC chairman Lhukhosei Zou on three weeks interim bail and the transfer of Th Brinda, thereby trying to mislead the public and meddling with the trial of the accused.

He continued that the former chairman and the transfer of Th Brinda MPS should in no way be linked together, adding that the former chairman who was accused of drug trafficking was granted interim bail as the court saw it fit to do so, while Th Brinda got transferred because of her misdemeanors unbecoming of a police officer.

“Her total disregard of court decorum, her subsequent verbal abuse of the court judge on social media and her hostile threat to a lady doctor have resulted in action taken against her," he added.

He also said that there is a clear line separating judiciary and legislature and the government cannot interfere in the judgment of the court.

Accusing the government of having a hand in the judgment of the court is naive and ignorant, he said and added that if the civil bodies want to contest the interim bail of the accused former chairman, it is fitting that it should move the higher court of law instead of trying to instigate a mob.

Therefore, the threat against the government made by the CVOs is totally uncalled for and it is not conducive for fostering mutual understanding between communities, he added.

Meanwhile, the student body also said that labeling the former chairman as ‘drug lord’ by the CVOs is strongly objectionable as the accused is yet to be proven guilty and condemned by the court of law. In the eyes of the law, a man is innocent until proven guilty, and to condemn an innocent man would be something unpardonable before the eyes of God and the law, it added.
