Manipur: Kangpokpi under complete lockdown till July 30

District magistrate Kangpokpi Somorjit Salam, while exercising the powers conferred upon him under Section 144 of CrPC, prohibited the movement of any person or vehicle outside their respective residence with immediate effect in the whole of the district.

Considering the present pandemic COVID-19 situation in Kangpokpi district, the district magistrate/DC Kangpokpi declared the whole of Kangpokpi district under complete lockdown till July 30 from Thursday with immediate effect.

In his prohibitory order issued under Section 144 Cr.P.C 1973, district magistrate Kangpokpi Somorjit Salam, while exercising the powers conferred upon him under Section 144 of CrPC, prohibited the movement of any person or vehicle outside their respective residence with immediate effect in the whole of the district, except for the activities permitted under order issued by Home department and his office today.

It also stated that anyone found violating the prohibitory order is liable to be prosecuted under relevant rules. However, the order shall not apply to the agencies of the Government involved in law and order and maintenance of essential services.

The Somorjit also issued a separate order highlighting the exempted lists of activities in the new guidelines for lockdown by the Home department today.

As on July 23, the cumulative number of positive cases in Kangpokpi is 257, of which 101 have been discharged while the active cases stands at 156. These figures are from the 4,837 sample sent for testing and its results.

There are 471 under surveillance at Home quarantine and 186 are under surveillance at institutional quarantine centres while seven persons are under surveillance at Community Quarantine Centre as on July 23 in the district.
