Tamenglong deputy commissioner Armstrong Pame has ordered a total shutdown for a week in Tamenglong district from 2 pm of Thursday with immediate effect under Section 144 of CrPc.
However, retail shops particularly dealing with essential services as noted by the order of the Home department shall be permitted to be opened from 6 am to 10 am.
"This order shall come into immediate effect and shall remain in force till July 30. Anyone found violating this prohibitory order is liable to be prosecuted under relevant rules. This order shall not apply to government agencies involved in enforcing law and order and the maintenance of essential service and list of permitted activities under Home department’s order", Pame stated.
He said that the prohibitory order was issued in pursuance to the order issued by chairperson, State Executive Committee of State Disaster Management Authority to impose a complete lockdown in the state due to COVID-19 cases being detected from people who have no travel history.
He said that it has become expedient to issue prohibitory orders with the objective of preventing danger to human life, health, safety, breach of peace and disturbance of public tranquility. This order is passed Ex-parte under sub-section 2 of section 144 Cr.P.C 1973, he added.
