‘RIMS administration has been paralyzed’

The employees welfare association alleged the administration of abusing the non-teaching staff and said many staff got transferred to other departments and sections if they do not fall in line.

The administration in RIMS has been paralyzed except for construction or contract works, the Non-Teaching Employees’ Welfare Association of Regional Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) claimed on Wednesday.

The association in a release alleged the administration of abusing the non-teaching staff by calling them to the chamber of the director and the deputy director in the last few days.

Many staff got transferred to other departments and sections if they do not fall in line, the association said. It stated that they have been warned not to participate in any discussion initiated by the association regarding the outsourcing of 404 contract employees of RIMS added.

The transferred staff included those who are working in various committees constituted to fight COVID-19 in RIMS, those working tirelessly in catering committees and in-charge of preparing duty rosters of non-teaching staff, the release stated.

Some have been transferred to Bishnupur district community center, a branch of RIMS. A lady staff who applied for maternity leave was transferred to another department without sanctioning the leave, it added.

The lack of knowledge and experience in the higher up posts has brought bad names to RIMS, the release further stated.

The association has been demanding to immediately withdraw the decision of the director to outsource the 404 contract employees, it further said, adding the harassment of the non-teaching employees’ welfare association members must be stopped.

It also demanded to stop the transfer and postings of non-teaching staff immediately and the disciplinary actions initiated against the office bearers/members of the association.

The various omissions and commissions of the present director of RIMS during his tenure and meanwhile, a competent professor must take charge, the association demanded. It requested the present deputy director to return to his parent DoNER Ministry. A new deputy director of RIMS with good administrative knowledge and experience should be appointed, it added.
