Konsakhul village restricts entry of outsiders at picnic spot

The decision was taken after the police and the village committee had a meeting following the increase in the number of visitors at the Konsakhul river even during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Konsakhul village, Kangpokpi district on Sunday restricted entry of public at the picnic spot at Konsakhul River in view of the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.

A statement issued by the chairman of Konsakhul, Aimson Abonmai said that the decision was taken after the police and the village committee had a meeting following the increase in the number of visitors at the river even during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Aimson stated that the decision is taken for the betterment of the state as whole and sought the support and cooperation of the public.

Konsakhul is located a few kilometers from Leimakhong bazaar and recently the number of visitors and picnickers in the Konsa River has been increasing during the lockdown.

After visitors at the river posted the photos in social media, different individuals had been raising concerns as the picnickers did not follow the precautionary norms to avoid the spread of COVID-19. Various individuals and social media groups even drew the attention of the state government to look into the matter.
