IMC conducts cleanliness drive at Singjamei in Imphal

IMC Lokeshor said the drive has been continuing at different markets, including Kwakeithel, Lamlong, Khwairamband and others.

In continuation of the mass cleanliness drive carried out by Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) in connection with ‘no plastic day’ to make a clean municipal area, cleanliness drive was conducted at Singjamei Bazaar area on Sunday.

Speaking on the sideline of the cleanliness drive, IMC Mayor L Lokeshor said each individual should take the initiative to make the surrounding clean starting from their respective home. IMC workers clean various areas of the Singjamei market area, including Singjamei Super Market, he added.

Moreover, hydrocholrine liquid was also sprayed in the market area, including the streets of Singjamei Chingamakha and market area.

Lokeshor said the drive has been continuing at different markets, including Kwakeithel, Lamlong, Khwairamband and others.

Responding to mediapersons, he said monitoring of disposal of waste has been continuing where people has been dumping at dark spots of various areas of the city. Though the monitoring drive has been started no person has been apprehended till date. If any individual are found while dumping waste at dark spots, immediate legal action will be taken up, he added.

Lokeshor appealed to the people not to throw wastes at dark spot but to enroll door-to-door waste collection to make the Imphal city clean.
