Additional Director General of Police, (law and order) Arvind Kumar has been shifted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) hospital, Delhi on Sunday to receive further treatment.
He was rushed to Raj Medicity hospital on Saturday for getting immediate treatment after reportedly shooting himself with his 0.32 service gun at his office chamber located at 1st Manipur Rifles campus.
Hospital authority said that a minor operation ‘external ventricular drain (EVD)’ was conducted at the hospital before being admitted to the ICU.
Chief Minister N Biren came to the hospital to check on the health condition of the police officer at about 1.30 pm on Sunday.
In his Facebook page, he uploaded a photograph of his visit along with a caption “A team of highly skilled doctors at Raj Medicity briefed me on the condition of Arvind Kumar, IPS, ADGP (L&O), Manipur Police who was critically injured in an unfortunate incident yesterday. He will be taken to AIIMS, Delhi by an Air Ambulance today”.
Hospital authorities further said that he left the hospital at about 4 pm this evening and the health condition of the police officer is getting better.
Police source said that a case has been registered for further investigation at Imphal Police station.
Police said he left for Delhi from Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, Imphal in an air ambulance at about 5 pm this Sunday.
